New splash pad opens at Sugar Land Memorial Park

A new splash pad has opened at Sugar Land Memorial Park in Sugar Land, giving families a new water-play area within the Brazos River park. The facility opened Sept. 25 at 15300 University Blvd.

The 8,300-square-foot splash pad includes a 2,450-square-foot water spray zone with 11 interactive features, including a toddler slide and a large overhead water bucket. The gated area also has shaded seating.

The splash pad is open Tuesdays through Sundays and closes Mondays for maintenance. The facility was funded by the Sugar Land 4B Corp., which uses sales tax dollars for facilities intended to encourage economic development.

Sugar Land Memorial Park also includes 2.5 miles of walking and biking trails, a lake, pavilions, a playground, picnic areas and a veterans memorial. The park is next to a six-acre dog park.
